PRESERVATION OF PIAUÍ'S RAILWAY CULTURAL HERITAGE, A MATTER OF HOUSING

The Railway Cultural Heritage is dealt with in this article from the residential buildings located along Line 01 of the old Estrada de Ferro Central do Piauí, state in the Northeast of Brazil, where it was observed that most of the village houses identified in the Inventory made carried out by the federal preservation institution maintained its housing function. A permanence that reached the 21st century and that stimulates reflection on dwelling in the heritage, understanding this sociocultural phenomenon as a way to enhance the value of buildings, the function of housing and its inhabitants. The approach starts from the characterization of these buildings and the analysis of the relationship that establish the policies of preservation and housing related to the railroad heritage.
