PAULO FREIRE AND THE POSSIBLE DREAM: POLITICAL EDUCATION, UTOPIA AND STRUGGLE
Abstract
The general objective of this article is to analyze Paulo Freire's critical perception of the
possible dream, highlighting the character of collectivity, theoretical and practical structure
for achieving it. And as specific objectives: - Understand that political education must be a
priority, as everything requires political decision, - Highlight the message of historical
struggle left by Paulo Freire; ; - Emphasize that there is no tomorrow without a project,
without a dream, without hope and without a utopia. In methodological terms, this is research
using mixed methods. In this way, a bibliographic study was carried out consulting the
educator's works, examining three essential ideas: political education, struggle and utopia.
Then, the content analysis technique was used, using Microsoft Excel and World Sift.org, to
systematize and analyze the data generated. It should be noted that political education will
always be a differentiator in the collective search for a possible dream. But it needs to be
associated with struggle and utopia. The relevance and relevance of Freirean thought stands
out in the affirmation of emancipatory education, to build a society without oppressed and
oppressors and with social justice.
