Abstract

The reflections presented here are part of a larger study whose purpose was to analyze the work of social workers with women egress from the Prison System through their work in the Centers for Attention to the Egress and Family - CAEF's. Through bibliographic and field research we analyzed, among other issues, the difficulties faced by women in the search for new life forms after incarceration. We emphasize in this article the role played by families in this process of rebuilding their citizenship both during and after the custodial sentence. Analyzing the particularities of gender, we identified that the passage through the prison system affects women more intensely than men, because it is linked to her responsibility with the house and children. We will use some data raised in the research to support the theoretical contribution and clarify the debate.
