QUESTIONING THE CONCEPTS OF TERRITORY AND SOCIAL EXCLUSION: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

Abstract

This article represents an effort based in research that we are developing, in order to question critically the potential of the concept of territory in the focus of social policy. In this sense, this goal intertwines the need - which in our understanding - it is urgent to promote discussions and strategies that culminate both the level of research and practice of Social Work, and actions to combat the social exclusion process. The territory because it refers to a dimension of the lives of families who experience daily the mutually exclusive processes, refers to the practices, relations, belongings, that is, should not be reduced to an understanding that only the face by an angle of delimitation of a the area.
