Abstract

This article aims to discuss the professional practice of
social workers in a prison unit of the penitentiary system that has the
semi-open regime. This article is an excerpt of a work of Course
(TCC) designed to obtain a bachelor's degree in Social Work, whose
research was carried out in a semi-open prison unit of Paraná. For
the sake of preserving the identity of the professionals, as well as the
unit's features, it will not be revealed what the unit is. It was
concluded that the professional practice of social workers in the
prison space, despite all the restrictions and dif iculties, resembles
several occupational areas of Social Services, with regard to
resources, processes and possibilities of securing rights to the subject
convict and their families.
