In this sense, the aim is to recover Rosely Roth's legacy for the lesbian-feminist movement in Brazil, reflecting on her importance through records such as the ChanacomChana newsletter (1982-1987), from the perspective of academic studies and texts of other kinds that have portrayed issues of gender, sexuality, memory and lesbian and LGBTQIAP+ experiences at national level and through audiovisual materials. In this way, it was concluded that the research made it possible not only to highlight the life, voice and actions of a woman who contributed to lesbian visibility, but also aimed to provide debates about the political participation of women on the Brazilian scene.
Leandra Alencar Soares Lima de Passo Tayssa Nobre Lobo Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4612 DISCUTINDO NAÇÃO E GÊNERO A PARTIR DE FADWA TUQAN https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4610
Abstract: This article aims to investigate the trajectory of the Palestinian poet Fadwa Tuqan based on her autobiography, Rihla Jabaliyya, Rihla Sa'ba, published in Arabic in 1985, in order to discuss the transformations of the Palestinian territory and population in the 20th century. Tuqan grew up in Palestine amidst the British colonial occupation and the presence of the Zionist movement, a process that culminated in the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. Thus, the article seeks to analyze how Tuqan constructs her personal history in her writings, paying attention to her reflections on social, political and cultural aspects of the reality of Palestine, focusing on her impressions on gender, politics and nation. Based on this publication, and the debates in the intellectual and historiographical scene, the article seeks to delve deeper into the implications of gender issues in national formation, crossed by the struggle for the liberation of Palestine.

Keywords: Fadwa Tuqan, Palestine, Nation, Gender, Autobiography.

Carolina Ferreira de Figueiredo Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4610 MEMÓRIAS DE UM ETNÓLOGO AMAZÔNIDA https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4601
Edson Soares Diniz (1934 - 2012) was an indigenous ethnologist amazonian, which was held at the Emílio Goeldi Paraense Museum (MPEG),, studying indigenous groups along the line of ethnic friction, contributing to studies at Brazilian and Amazonian anthropology. Throughout his personal trajectory, produced “memories of himself” recorded and evidenced in his personal archive, which this article presents the biographical aspects of his life and work. Naturalized Brazilian, Brocos was a painter at the turn of the 20th century and gained prominence for his painting A Redenção de Cam, a canvas presented to the public in 1895. The text initially goes back to the artist's life story, a biography that has been little studied compared to his contemporaries. It then addresses how the racial issue was mixed with the artist's trajectory, erasing part of his history and idiosyncrasies. Finally, with the aim of contributing to the historiographical debate on biographies, it reflects on scientific production in light of the questions of the present time in the presence of the past, a theme that historians have frequently addressed.
Miguel Lucio dos Reis Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4572 AS RELAÇÕES DE GÊNERO NO CAMPO DE CONCENTRAÇÃO DE RAVENSBRÜCK https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4698
This article aims at analysing the autobiography of Selma Van de Perre, a Jewish woman, fighter of the Dutch resistance movement, survivor of the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp and victim of violence against women perpetrated by the Nazi regime. Starting from notions and concepts about autobiography, it is intended to propose an understanding about gender and highlight the possibilities of the narrative field for women. It is intended to use the autobiography for a case study of the gender experience in the Ravensbrück concentration camp, considered a camp that has limited records, among the sources of knowledge that elucidate its existence are autobiographies and testimonies. The study focuses on gender issues in the concentration camps, and highlights gender-based violence as a matter.
Jadeane Matos Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4698 THE ROLE OF UPA/FNLA WOMEN IN THE ANTI-COLONIAL STRUGGLE IN ANGOLA: THE TRAJECTORY OF LUZIA MACUNGO https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4566
This article looks at the militant career of Luzia Macungo, an emblematic figure of the UPA/FNLA and the Angolan Women's Association (AMA) in the underground and in Angola's national liberation struggle. In this context, the choice of topic stems from the scarcity of studies on the women of this movement. Methodologically, we relied on oral and documentary sources. Indigenous protagonism in this context was greatly favored by the expansion of political space and the politicization of indigenous leaders during the period of implementation of the Indian Directory, which ensured indigenous self-government, even though subject to a rigid tutelary regime guided by a program of “reform of customs”. This article recovers fragments of the life trajectories of two indigenous leaders involved in the process of independence in Bahia: João Francisco de Souza and Lourenço Borges. By describing and analyzing their actions, we seek to demonstrate the various forms of indigenous participation in the construction of an independent Brazil, highlighting the autonomous and proactive insertion of indigenous leaders in that context and demonstrating how the writing of short life trajectories can reveal, albeit in a fragmented way, the complexity of that process.
Francisco Cancela Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4608 EURYDICE PIRES DE SANT'ANNA (1919 - 2015) https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4484
O texto apresenta a trajetória de Eurydice Pires de Sant’Anna. We consider this type of source as a possibility to also analyze biographical perspectives, as they reveal personal nuances according to the perception of the self. For this, we used a set of epistles located at the Câmara Cascudo Institute (Ludovicus). Beginning with the initial correspondence in the 1940s, we highlight the letters sent in the 1970s and 1980s, a period of deep reflection and recollection, as the Paraibano intellectual was elderly. From Vidal's accounts, we can observe intellectual interactions, collaboration on projects, and the mutual recognition of these individuals within the intellectual sphere, with emotional bonds also deepened through the sharing of experiences, feelings, and confessions. In theoretical-methodological terms, we draw on the contributions of Malatian (2009), Bezerra & Silva (2010), and Foucault (2000).

Keywords: Self-writing, Ademar Vidal, Epistles, Biography, Paraíba.
Maria Joedna Rodrigues Marques Joel Carlos de Souza Andrade Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4606 FROM SHOESHINER TO LEAD ACTOR IN CENTRAL STATION: The Journey of Vinícius de Oliveira and Memories of the film https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4587
This article explores the journey of Vinícius de Oliveira, a Brazilian actor who began his artistic career portraying the character Josué in Central Station. The text aims to argue that being one of the film's protagonists allowed Vinícius de Oliveira to redefine his life's path, as it was through this experience that the twelve-year-old boy living with his family in the Complexo da Maré in Rio de Janeiro transitioned from being a shoeshiner to becoming an actor. This work offers an approach to the memory of performing arts in Brazil.
Ana Carolina Machado Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4587 “O LOBO EM PELE DE CORDEIRO E O LOBO EM PELE DE LOBO”: https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4556
This article aims to compare the management styles of Antônio Soares Calçada and Eurico Miranda at Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama. The analysis draws from periodical sources such as O Globo, Jornal dos Sports, and Placar, alongside oral history interviews with key figures. Our findings suggest that Eurico’s portrayal as a combative leader, in contrast to Calçada’s conciliatory approach, played a significant role in his political ascension. Theoretical and methodological considerations propose a connection between club identity and the performance of sports leaders. In the case of Vasco, the prevailing identity of resistance justifies Eurico's emphasis on his confrontational side.
Letícia Costa Marcolan Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4556 EDITORIAL https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4773 Alicia Panicacci Figueiredo Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4773 PRÁTICAS TRADICIONAIS DO FILÓ ITALIANO EM UMA PERSPECTIVA DE PERFORMANCES CULTURAIS https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4290
The aim of this article is to analyze the sociocultural relations of Italian filó based on the performance of Filó de Vila Flores, RS. His films are full of references to Brazilian’s history and literature, organized according to fragmentary montages, not very faithful to scripts. Three of his movies from 1970s and 1980s reflect the situation experienced by Brazilian society in those decades, astonished with the unfoldings of the military regime. This paper covers these films to analyze how their narrative discourse reverberates the historical context of the authoritarian years, composing a shattered portrait of the country under estate of exception.
Paulo Roberto de Carvalho Barbosa Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4347 A CARTOGRAFIA MEDIEVAL NO LIBER FLORIDUS DO LAMBERT DE SAINT-OMER https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4395
This article aims to explain the concept of globality in medieval cartography based on the encyclopedia entitled Liber floridus [Books of Flowers]. Lambert, Canon of Saint-Omer, was a French Benedictine monk (ca. 1061-1150) who studied theology, grammar and music and became known as a man of great erudition. He was chosen Canon of Saint-Omer, the name by which he is known today. The whole constitutes a very significant cartographic encyclopedia, completed around 1120 and made up of excerpts from around 192 different works, all the more so as it is one of the most important mappamundi and one of the most complete, representing a very useful link between ancient maps (Ptolemy, Capella) and the first maps of Isidore. In this treatise Lambert compiled a chronicle or history that goes back to the year 1119; contains several maps, including a mappamundi, which originally, like the text, has a date at least before 1125. Finally, the article proposes an analysis of the manuscripts that have survived to contemporary times: the manuscripts from Ghent, Wolfenbüttel and Paris. As a methodology, the idea of globality in medieval studies of the History of Global Art is used.
Jefferson Mendes Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4395 A NOVA DIREITA INTERNACIONAL ENTRE O FASCISMO CLÁSSICO E O NEOFASCISMO METAPOLÍTICO https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4445
The first refers to the many ways in which perpetrators (understood in a broad sense) can be represented. The second concerns the exploration of the "grey zones" in terms of Primo Levi (2004) and what Michael Rothberg (2019) has termed "implication." We suggest that although the above-mentioned concepts address indirect or less perceptible perpetrations, there is a notable difference, as the formulation of the latter author would have a broader scope. The aim of the article, then, is to present some of the burning issues related to this field, privileging debates on the representation of victims in documentary.

Samuel Torres Bueno Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4471 OS “EXCLUÍDOS DA CULTURA”: https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4488
This research investigated the institutional view of outsourced employees in the scientific dissemination practices of the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (MAST). From the category of outsider within, by Patricia Hill Collins, we debate how these workers are made invisible in the workplace by the nature of their functions and by the social relations that produce exclusions and hierarchy. By observing a practice of non-inclusive scientific dissemination, we see in this a reinforcement of the process of invisibility found in MAST. We emphasize, however, that this does not inhibit the production of their own senses and meanings about the museum by these workers, revealing different perspectives on the institution and how it is seen in its scientific and social dimension.
Andressa Braz Moema de Rezende Vergara Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4488 A MEMÓRIA HISTÓRICA DA INDEPENDÊNCIA E A TELEDRAMATURGIA https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4504
The article interprets the ways of the historical memory operates in the elaboration and circulation of television cultural products, more specifically historical soap operas, based on two television dramas produced about the process of political independence in Brazil and shown on open television: O Quinto dos Infernos (Carlos Lombardi, 2002) and IndependênciaS (Luiz Fernando Carvalho, 2022).
André Luis Bertelli Duarte Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4504 ELBA RAMALHO AT ROCK IN RIO https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4519
The interpreter Elba Ramalho built her career associated with the cultural signs of the Northeast. Through an analysis of the ethnographical descriptions present in the atlas (in which habits and phenotypes of different East Asian societies are detailed), we point out the author’s attempts to minimize the barbarity and violence attributed to groups coming from Manchuria, who at that time had invaded China and established the Qing dynasty. We propose that Martini effectuates a process of racialization of the Manchus (here called “Tartars”), based on geographic, cultural and environmental criteria that demonstrate the malleability and heterogeneity intrinsic to the narratives of categorization of human populations before the emergence of the “modern” idea of race.
Bruno Stori Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4522 THE RELIGIOUS FACTOR OF CLIMATE COMMUNICATIONS https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4555
The article examines the influence of the Christian church on the international and national public regarding the settlement of global climate challenges and the church's climate communications from the Middle Ages to the present. Utilizing comparative and literary analysis of both historical texts and contemporary scientific papers, the study explores how these religious institutions have engaged with and influenced public discourse on global climate challenges. The findings underscore the significant role that religious institutions can play in shaping responses to climate change, leveraging their moral and ethical frameworks to foster community involvement and support for sustainable practices. The authors conclude that both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches recognize the scientific consensus regarding the anthropogenic cause of global climate change and actively participate in overcoming climate challenges.
Olena Shevchenko Irina Sidanich Yuliia Turchenko Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4555 AS MULHERES DA DINASTIA CONSTANTINIANA NAS OBRAS DE JULIANO, AMIANO MARCELINO E FILOSTÓRGIO https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4405

Thaís de Almeida Rodrigues Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4405 BIOGRAFIA E HISTÓRIA: https://periodicos.franca.unesp.br/index.php/historiaecultura/article/view/4774 Patricia Ladeira Penna Macêdo Priscila Rosa Martins Copyright (c) 2024 História e Cultura (History and Culture) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-12-26 2024-12-26 13 2 10.18223/hiscult.v13i2.4774
